7 Best Airbnbs in the East Village – Great Values in NYC

East Village Manhattan NYC Street View

We developed this list of the best East Village Airbnbs because we think that this is one of the best neighborhoods that New York City has to offer. It has been the epicenter of transformation, innovation, and creativity within the city, shaping the minds of several generations of native New Yorkers as well as impacting the rest of the world. A trip to Manhattan is not complete without a stay in this area.

The East Village is the neighborhood in Manhattan south of the 14th street and north of Houston on the east side of the island. It was well-known for being a haven for artists and punks during the ‘70s and ‘80s, with affordable apartments and ample spaces allowing them to create and experiment with their art and music. Music groups like Blondie and the Velvet Underground performed here and changed the face of punk and rock music.

During the most recent years, due to the success of its art scene, the face of the East Village has transformed, with an influx of new artists and young professionals leading to the construction of new high-end new buildings and overall gentrification of the area. But, it is still possible to find and re-live the punk scene in some areas, such as on St. Mark’s Place (8th Street).

Due to all of these developments, there is a lot to discover in this area. If you rent an Airbnb in the East Village, you’ll be just a few steps from indie boutiques, dive bars, world-class restaurants, picturesque sidewalk cafes, and public parks with murals and installations that re-imagines its golden era.

As a landmark in this neighborhood to locate the distance of the best Airbnbs, we decided to choose Tompkins Square Park. The park is located exactly in the heart of this eclectic area and hosts unique performances. Additionally, it is equipped with playgrounds, handball & basketball courts, chess tables, and fitness equipment and we believe is a great spot to have fun, relax, and stay fit. It is a park you cannot miss!

The loft is in a brilliant location at the top of the East Village and the L train Subway is just outside. There is a lift from ground level. Andrew said: “Very great location for the lower East side of Manhattan off Houston Street. This converted tenement studio is on the first floor with easy access to the street. The F train and key to NYC is only a 15 minute walk. Nearby is a Key Food grocery, the famous Katz Delicatessen and many other foodie fair including a Mumbai Indian Cuisine and bagels/pizza. Tompkins Square Park is near as well. The studio full size bed was comfortable with a small Flat screen, Spectrum cable, and full kitchen to cook. Since it’s an older tenement, there is no thermostat and its hot water boiler controlled from a central location so heat was inconsistent . It was very clean and we’d stay again for the location and cost.”
